About the Event
“Honoring the Haudenosaunee”
Who are the Haudenosaunee?
The Haudenosaunee, meaning “people of the longhouse” are an Indigenous confederacy of six nations: Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca and Tuscarora. Their ancestral homelands include much of what is now New York and surrounding regions. The Haudenosaunee have rich and living traditions, languages, governance and cultural practices that continue to thrive today. Native American heritage month is an opportunity to honor their enduring cultures, history and contributions.
